Leverage Adjustment Guide: Steps and Precautions for Traders

In CFD trading, capital management flexibility is paramount. Traders often need to adjust their leverage to align with changing investment strategies or to manage risk according to current market volatility. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough and essential safety tips for changing your leverage.

How to Change Leverage in Your Member Area

You can manually adjust your leverage ratio quickly and easily by following these steps:

  1. Log In: Sign in to your member area via the IUX App Trade or the official website at iux.com.

  2. Select Account: Navigate to the "Accounts" menu and select the specific "Account Card" you wish to modify.

  3. Adjust Settings: Click on the "Change Leverage" tab.

  4. Confirm: Select your desired new leverage ratio and click confirm.

Important Note: While changes usually take effect immediately, the request is subject to approval based on your current Free Margin at the time of the request.

Critical Factors to Consider Before Adjusting Leverage

Increasing your leverage allows you to open larger positions with less collateral. Conversely, decreasing your leverage will immediately increase the required Margin (collateral) for your open positions.

If you have active trades, please ensure you have sufficient Equity to cover the increased margin requirements. Failure to do so may trigger an automatic Stop Out due to insufficient funds.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
  • Is there a fee for changing my leverage?

No. Adjusting your leverage ratio is a free service provided through your member dashboard.

  • Why am I unable to change my leverage?

The most common reason is having active open positions. If reducing leverage causes your "Used Margin" to exceed your available equity, the system will reject the request. Additionally, some specific account types may have fixed leverage restrictions.

  • Does the change take effect immediately?

Yes, the system updates your ratio instantly. However, we recommend refreshing your trading platform (such as MT5) to ensure the new settings are reflected accurately.

  • What is the best leverage ratio to use?

This depends on your risk tolerance and capital size. Beginners are generally advised to start with lower leverage to maintain better control over market risk and prevent rapid capital loss.
